Amtrak Partners with Major California Theme Park to Offer Exclusive Travel Discounts

Hugging the scenic Southern California coastline, Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner winds its way along a 351-mile route through Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Luis Obispo counties, offering passengers sweeping views of beaches, cliffs, and the ocean. But now, the 25-year-old route is offering more than just breathtaking scenery. Through a new partnership with a popular California theme park, the Pacific Surfliner is adding an extra incentive for travelers: special discounts designed to make the journey and the destination itself equally rewarding.

Beginning October 14, 2025, passengers aboard Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner can take advantage of double savings when visiting SeaWorld San Diego, one of California’s most popular marine-themed attractions. The new alliance between Amtrak and SeaWorld offers travelers exclusive discounts on both train fares and park admission, deals that go beyond standard website pricing. The initiative aims to make travel more accessible, affordable, and family-friendly via train to the world-renowned theme park.

With sweeping coastal views, spacious seating, complimentary Wi-Fi, and an onboard café car, Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner offers one of the most scenic and comfortable ways to reach Old Town San Diego. The LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency (Los Angeles–San Diego–San Luis Obispo), which manages the Pacific Surfliner service, has announced a new strategic partnership with San Diego SeaWorld in Mission Bay Park.

“We are thrilled to partner with SeaWorld to offer families and visitors a convenient and stress-free way to experience San Diego,” said LOSSAN Agency Board Chair Fred Jung. “This initiative makes it easier and more affordable than ever to plan a getaway where the journey is just as enjoyable as the destination.”

Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner offers 12 daily round-trip services between San Diego and Los Angeles, and five between Santa Barbara and San Diego. There is no direct free bus connection from San Diego SeaWorld to catch the Pacific Surfliner. However, visitors can take the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) Route 9 bus to the Old Town Transit Center to catch the Amtrak train.

“As a top destination in San Diego, SeaWorld San Diego is excited to make it more convenient and affordable for travelers from Los Angeles through Orange County to enjoy everything the park has to offer,” said Jackie Plaza, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at San Diego SeaWorld.

Amtrak passengers can choose from several ticket options at San Diego SeaWorld, including single-day admission for a full day of adventure or a bundled ticket with All-Day Dining, which allows guests to enjoy entrées, sides, desserts, and beverages every 90 minutes at participating park restaurants.
