SeaWorld
San Diego has just announced its plans to open its all-new jellyfish
exhibit, “Jewels of the Sea: A Jellyfish Experience”, in Spring 2025. The first
of its kind for SeaWorld parks and SeaWorld San Diego’s first aquarium opening
in a decade, Jewels of the Sea promises an immersive, interactive experience
showcasing all sorts of jellyfish in vibrant, multi-colored displays across
three distinct galleries.

The kaleidoscopic
displays will feature a wide range of jelly species and be paired with captivating
storytelling that will surprise and enchant guests. As part of SeaWorld’s
mission is the educate and inspire the public to learn about the ocean’s
wonders, this upcoming exhibit contains a wealth of engaging educational
components to enhance guests’ understanding of these fascinating sea creatures.

Standout elements
include a 10-foot acrylic jellyfish archway, an 18-foot-tall jelly cylinder (one
of the country’s tallest), and a touchable cascading water globe populated by
jellyfish. And, of course, there will be many shareable photo-op features that
are sure to draw families and adult visitors alike.

 

As guests come to
the end of the exhibit, they’ll encounter its piece de resistance: a highly
immersive, expansive virtual gallery where the walls and ceiling, which are
blanketed with digital video panels displaying enthralling oceanic scenes. Depicting
a range of tableaux, ranging from tranquil waters to forceful waves and
360-degree explorative experiences, this interactive space will transport
viewers to otherworldly underwater realms

“Visiting the new
Jellyfish Experience is an amazing opportunity like no other—a chance for our
guests to see up close the spectacular details of these underwater marvels and
witness how they live their lives in astonishing clarity,” said Eric Otjen, VP,
Zoological, SeaWorld San Diego. “Guests will walk through striking habitats and
view vivid displays to learn more about these wonderful creatures. This new
exhibit aligns with our mission of educating and inspiring guests to learn more
about our oceans and the world around us.”

Simultaneously,
SeaWorld San Diego plans to revamp its iconic Journey to Atlantis roller
coaster, which marked its 20th anniversary in 2024. The updated ride, also
scheduled for unveiling in 2025, will honor the beloved original version of the
park’s first roller coaster ride, but incorporate new elements to make it a
more thrilling an immersive experience than before. The reimagined Journey to Atlantis
will feature a new storyline, special visual effects, and new water and show
elements that pay homage to the original attraction while also enhancing it to
make it even more appealing for today’s audiences. 

To celebrate these
additions, SeaWorld is offering a limited-time discount of up to 20 percent on
2025 Annual Passes. Pass members will enjoy exclusive benefits, including early
VIP access to the new Jewels of the Sea exhibit, ride previews, and invitations
