Why Regenerative Health Is Such Big News

Why Regenerative Health Is Such Big News

According to the Global Wellness Institute” “Wellness Tourism globally is now worth $651 billion annually and has a forecasted average annual expenditure growth of 16.6% to 2027.” It’s no wonder, then, that hotels and spas are looking for new ways to capture a growing audience.

Winged Boots, a personalised luxury travel concierge company that delivers highly tailored travel experiences for HNWIs, sportspeople and celebrities, says it has seen an uptick in customers seeking luxury wellness holidays. David Ox, managing director at Winged Boots, says: “Customers are trading traditional indulgence for health, rejuvenation and fitness and, instead, are opting for healing spas, expert-created personal wellness plans and digital detox retreats. We’ve particularly noticed an increased interest in trips promoting longevity, with a wave of exclusive, medically-focused facilities offering advanced health and fitness treatments to help people live longer and better lives. This is proving particularly popular with busy CEOs who are now prioritising their health and recognising the damaging effects that running a successful business can have on your mind and body. As people continue to take charge of their mental and physical wellbeing, I expect to see a continued increase in wellness resorts offering highly tailored treatments, as well as new cutting edge interventions being made available to holidaymakers.”

This month, Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane has announced three new spa partners: Omorovicza, Cellcosmet and Philosophia Botanica. These brand partnerships reflect The Spa’s expansion into Regenerative Wellness, says Four Seasons, with results-driven treatments that deliver instant results through cutting edge technology, organic ingredients and ancient rituals. Guests of The Spa, located on the 10th floor with panoramic views of Hyde Park and the city beyond, are now able to discover a curated menu of transformative treatments. The introduction of Omorovicza, Cellcosmet, and Philosophia Botanica complements the existing vitality pools, relaxation pods and skylit saunas.

“These new partnerships mark the start of The Spa’s Regenerative Wellness offering. Each brand has been carefully selected to create a menu focused on improving our guests overall wellbeing, while delivering instant results through science-lead products and proven ancient rituals and techniques” says Jenny Jones, spa director at Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane.

Also in London, Pan Pacific might be in the heart of the City, but its Sensory Wellbeing floor brings a holistic approach to urban life. As well as an infinity pool with skyline views, the treatments infuse Western science and clinical research with South East Asian traditions of clean beauty focusing on result-driven relaxation techniques, and tailor-made seasonal rituals.

Robbie Leung, director of Wellbeing at Pan Pacific London, comments: “At Pan Pacific London, we have seen a growing demand for personalised wellness experiences that go beyond traditional treatments. Our guests are no longer looking for quick fixes, they want transformative solutions that offer real, lasting change. This shift is driven by the power of meaningful data, whether it is related to nutrition, body performance, skincare, or sleep. With the help of AI, blood tests, and other technologies, it is essential that this data is clear and easy to understand. Personalised wellness should focus on making this information simple and actionable, allowing guests to feel empowered on their journey towards holistic healing and self-discovery.”

He continues: “We are excited to meet this demand with innovative technology and expert care, such as our exclusive TecnoBody® D-wall system. This advanced system uses body recognition and gesture-based interactions to guide guests through personalised workouts, focusing on real-time biofeedback and long-term joint health through mindful training. Guests will receive detailed digital assessments and live feedback on areas like nutrient deficiencies, sleep disorders and stress, factors that may prevent the body from reaching its full potential. Each session provides a customised guide, empowering guests to achieve their optimal health in a truly personalised way.”

Whether it is sleep retreats or personalised journeys, many hotels, such as the Hilton group, are upping the ante when it comes to their wellness offerings. Hilton’s recent 2025 Travel Trends Report reveals that more than 71% of travellers want to feel pampered whilst on holiday with many of the group’s brands now pivoting to offer elevated experiences. At Umana Bali, LXR Hotels & Resorts, the Lohma Spa offers a mix of personalised and holistic ancient healing traditions and contemporary therapies. ‘The Self’, for example, resets physical energy and builds strength, while ‘The Body’ encourages emotional release through deep relaxation techniques.

Meanwhile, another Hilton hotel, Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island, which opened in January 2024, sees wellness taking centre stage at the resort. The Waldorf Astoria Spa offers personalised wellness screenings in which the team of experts utilise state-of-the-art screening technology to analyse over 30 key physiological biomarkers of health. After this comprehensive assessment, guests will then receive a tailored treatment plan as per their results, which includes treatments, exercises, and dietary recommendations, leading to improved health and a deeper connection with oneself.

Meanwhile, Milaidhoo, a luxury resort in the Maldives, is embracing the slow travel trend, which also naturally taps into wellness. As well as Milaidhoo’s classic beach experiences, which are designed to enhance to slow living, therapies on offer at the spa include the ‘Deep Sleep Program’, which improves sleep patterns for an undisturbed night. Milaidhoo also encourages guests to journal about their experiences, in order for them to capture the nuances of their day, reflecting on the small things and weave together insights, gratitude and emotions.

Paul van Frank, general manager of Milaidhoo, gives more insight: “At Milaidhoo, personalisation is at the heart of everything we do with our guests arriving here to seek meaningful experiences. Our custom ‘Mood Dining’ experience combines wellness and gastronomy to best embody that philosophy. Following a consultation with our expert wellness therapists, each menu is thoughtfully adapted by our chefs to suit guest needs, preferences and goals. Guest’s physical goals are also considered, whether its movement through sunrise yoga, meditation through breathwork or complete relaxation, with spa treatments such as massages which incorporate the ‘Musclease’ mud application. This approach allows us to create moments that nurture, not only the bod,y but also the mind and soul, perfectly aligning with the Milaidhoo ethos of mindful luxury.”

Back in London, meanwhile, a host of wellbeing practitioners are tapping into the quest for targeted, personalised beauty solutions. Harnessing the power of touch is Sarah Bradden, a pioneering wellness expert with over 20 years-experience in cosmetic acupuncture. Her curated Sarah Bradden Method addresses mind and body, paying attention to our emotional health and feelings. With clients suffering from feelings of overwhelm and anxiety commonplace in her practice, she carefully observes how these can influence energy levels, sleep, gut health, overall wellbeing and skin.“Someone might come with acne, but the root of the challenge is deeper and more complex,” she says.

Known for her special ability to layer principles of Chinese Medicine alongside cutting-edge health technologies, she has recently introduced Hydrogen with Activated Oxygen to her Sarah Bradden Method. Hydrogen (H2) is a potent antioxidant acting to ‘mop up’ harmful free radicals, protecting cells and tissues from oxidative damage and inflammation. It has been known to enhance life span, improving resilience and restoring vibrancy. Incorporating acupuncture with complimentary technologies, her treatments might include reiki, bio resonance (a psychosomatic pathology correction method), infrared technology and peptide infusion masks.

Meanwhile, SU-MAN, leading facialist and bodyworker loved by celebrities, including Sienna Miller and Juliette Binoche, has recently unveiled her Skin Dance Method. The former ballet dancer uses the power of touch by accessing meridian and acupoints alongside her SU-MAN Skincare to reveal what she calls, ‘ethereal skin’. Her intuitive fusion of Eastern and Western modalities results in beautiful skin by blending different but complementary elements to give stand out results. By drawing on both East and West practices—West tends to correct, and East prevents—a more complete outcome is the result.

“My background in dance plays an important role in my treatments. In many ways it lies at the very core of my approach to wellness, youthfulness and reversing lifestyle habits that age us needlessly. We may say ageing is inevitable, but we can dance with it and make it a friend instead of an enemy,” says SU-MAN.

Her bespoke approach starts by observing both emotional and skincare needs to create a bespoke ‘Skin Dance’—choreographing a unique sequence as she draws on her knowledge and understanding of movement, energy flow and the interconnectedness of our physical and emotional wellbeing. As she begins a tailor-made Skin Dance sequence, her hands will glide around the head, ears, upper chest, face and neck releasing tension, increasing energy and balancing the body. Key to the SU-MAN experience is removing ‘stagnant’ energy as this, she believes, results in skin which appears dull, congested and imbalanced. Her expert ability in applying tailor-made acupuncture techniques results in her clearing any stagnation, which is often seen in people living fast lives, as is commonplace in the West. As SU-MAN resets the natural flow of energy in the body, accelerates micro circulation and de-stresses the system, the skin is naturally rejuvenated.

Finally, the trend of movement within wellbeing is also being harnessed at Gaga Retreats at Schloss Elmau, a luxury spa retreat and cultural hideaway, in Germany. Accessible to both professional dancers and non-dancers, Gaga is a form of physical expression that requires no previous experience and has revolutionised communication through dance. The artform was conceptualised by Ohad Naharin—choreographer, performer and previous artistic director of the Batsheva Dance Company. It is an ever-evolving practice that takes place within the halls of Schloss Elmau, a Leading Hotels of the World property which specialisies in one-0f-a-kind wellbeing and cultural rereats.

The movement of Gaga is an exploration that relies on improvisation, sensation and an acknowledged connection between the mind and body. The practice is not comprised of specific techniques or forms, but rather, it invites individuals into a deep exploration of their own movement capabilities—in a receptive and engaging environment.

Schloss Elmau’s Retreats are unique, in that they are expertly constructed to encourage guests to fully immerse themselves into a particular culture, practice or state-of-being. The first full Gaga Retreat will run from 16-20 March 2025, this time hosted by the creator Ohad Naharin himself, assisted by artistic director Saar Harari. New dates will be added throughout the year.
