Harry Reid Airport offers tips for fun, safe Spring Break travel

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Spring Break is just around the corner, and officials at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) are sharing essential tips for smoother travel.
Preparation for Unaccompanied Children Travel
Southern Nevada schools will be on spring break from March 17 to 21. If your child will be flying alone, it’s important to know airline-specific rules and procedures:
Check Airline Policies: Each airline has unique policies, fees, and procedures for unaccompanied minors. Contact the airline in advance to ensure you’re fully prepared.
Arrive Early:
- For Departures: Arrive at the airport at least three hours before the flight to complete the necessary paperwork and accompany your child through TSA screening. Most airlines require you to stay with your child at the gate until boarding.
- For Arrivals: If you’re picking up an unaccompanied child, arrive at least two hours before the flight lands. You’ll need to coordinate with the airline and go through TSA screening to meet them at the gate.
Simplify Parking with These Tips
Take the stress out of airport parking by planning ahead:
- Reserve Parking in Advance: Save time by reserving parking online at LAS. Rates start at $28/day at Terminal 1 (T1), Level 2M, and $21/day at Terminal 3 (T3), Level 1.
- Opt for Terminal 3 – More parking is typically available at T3. If flying from T1 with no checked bags, use the TSA checkpoint at T3 and take the inter-terminal tram to your gate.
- Utilize Economy & Overflow Parking – If the T1 Economy Lot is full, expect redirection to the Overflow Economy Lot at 576 Kitty Hawk Way. The Remote Lot at 7140 Gilespie Street offers additional space with a shuttle service to the terminal.
- Curbside Concierge at Rent-A-Car Center – Check bags before arriving at the terminal and head directly to security!

Picking Up Passengers? Here’s How to Make It Easy
- Use the Cell Phone Lot: Arrive early and wait for free at the Cell Phone Lot on Kitty Hawk Way, open daily from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.
- Easier Meetups: Look for numbered columns in the passenger pickup area to coordinate with your party.
- Avoid Curb Parking: Parking at the curb is prohibited. If your party isn’t ready, pull into Short-Term Parking, where the first 15 minutes are free, or wait at the Cell Phone Lot for longer periods.
